Baked Penne Casserole with Homemade Sauce- A Deliciously Creative Recipe

Are you in the mood for a hearty, comforting meal that's sure to please your taste buds?

Look no further than this Baked Penne Casserole with a Homemade Sauce.

What makes this recipe even more special is that we had to get creative with the sauce when we realized we were out of store-bought pasta sauce. The result? A fantastic, homemade sauce that complements Fiber Gourmet Penne Light Pasta perfectly.

Let's dive into the details.

Ingredients:

  • Fiber Gourmet Penne Light Pasta: https://fibergourmet.com/discount/Dew1909.

  • Approximately 1 pound of ground beef or sirloin.

  • Coarse sea salt.

  • Fresh black pepper.

  • Fresh or dried parsley.

  • Tomato paste

  • 1. can of whole tomatoes.

  • Olive oil.

  • Beef Broth.

  • Lime juice.

  • 4 cloves of garlic

  • 1 large onion

  • Fresh basil

  • Fresh parmesan cheese

  • Shredded cheddar cheese.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pasta: Begin by boiling water, adding about a tablespoon of salt, a little butter, and olive oil to the water. Once it comes to a boil, add your Fiber Gourmet Penne Light Pasta. This is a plant-based pasta. So good. Check it out here. https://fibergourmet.com/discount/Dew1909

Cook the Pasta to Al Dente perfection. Drain and set aside.

2. Saute the Aromatics: In a frying pan, add about a tablespoon of olive oil, and a tablespoon of butter. Season with a little salt and pepper and mix well. Then, add your chopped onions and garlic cloves. Saute them for about three minutes until they become fragrant and slightly translucent.

3. Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef or sirloin to the pan with the sautéed onions and garlic. Cook until the meat is lightly pink, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks.

4. Create the Homemade Sauce: Here's where our creativity comes into play. Add a small can of tomato paste to the pan. To thin out the paste and create a flavorful sauce, add some of the pasta water you saved from earlier. Stir all the ingredients together.

5. Enhance the Sauce: Pour in the can of whole tomatoes, making sure to split them in half to release their juices into the sauce. Add a small amount of beef broth to taste; if you prefer a thicker sauce, add less, and for a thinner sauce, add more. Add a touch of lime juice, salt, pepper, and more parsley to taste. Now, introduce some fresh basil leaves and grated fresh Parmesan Cheese to the sauce, letting it simmer on low.

6. Mix and Prepare the Casserole: Combine the cooked pasta with the flavorful sauce, ensuring that the pasta is well coated. Butter the bottom and sides of your casserole dish. Season the dish with salt, pepper, and parsley for extra flavor. Then, transfer the pasta mixture into the casserole dish.

7. Cheese it Up: Top the casserole with a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese. This will create a mouthwatering, cheesy crust as it bakes.

8. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Cover the casserole dish and bake for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.

9. Serve and Garnish: Take the casserole out of the oven and plate it. Garnish your dish with more grated fresh Parmesan cheese for an extra layer of flavor.

This baked Penne Casserole with a Homemade Sauce is a delicious and creative twist on a classic dish.

It's a perfect meal for three people, and you can adjust the quantities to suit your needs.

Enjoy the fusion of flavors and the wholesome, plant-based goodness of Fiber Gourmet Penne Light Pasta.

Bon Appetit!
