Tis the Season



Tis is the Season when lamp posts, buildings, homes and more turn into a Holiday ornament decked out with lights tinsel and garland celebrating a magical time of the year.


Springfield and surrounding communities have many Holiday Events for you and your family.


Dew Chilli Parlor's Of America would like to share some of those events, dates and locations with you in the hopes you will be able to attend and enjoy as many as possible.

Dress in your favorite festive PJs to join Mrs. Claus for story time at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and take home a free book too! Take part in holiday activities from around the world and learn a festive holiday dance with the Springfield Youth Performance group. Help us deck the halls and trim the tree by making ornaments from around the world for our community tree and explore the Memorial Holiday Fest student tree display throughout the museum. Activities and books available while supplies last.


LUMINARY NIGHTS AT THE DANA-THOMAS HOUSE:

Half-hour evening tours of the 12,600 square foot mansion with a focus on more than 60 interior holiday designs and six trees created by the Civic Garden Club. Thirty people per tour (2 groups of 15). The site will be illuminated inside and out with more than one hundred LED candles. Tours begin at the front door along Lawrence Avenue.

Holiday surprises abound when this magical tale turns upside down. If you thought you knew the classic story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince… you don’t know Nuttin’. Dew Drop any notion you’ve had about this ballet, because when the Nutcracker gets Nutty it’ll be a Sugar Plum good time! What happens when the Nutcracker gets shot with his own cannon, and how will the mice behave in a land where everything is made of tasty temptations? You’ll be on your toes when you see this tutu funny waltz into Christmas.

Winter break may be ending, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to! Escape the end-of-break blues with crafts and activities. Join us for a STEAMy Winter. Make a coded candy cane, create frost in a jar, and more. Activities will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during this come-and-go event. Sit down for a story with storyteller Mike Anderson for stories and songs about the winter. Stories at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) celebrates its 35th annual First Night Springfield on New Year's Eve in downtown Springfield. This family-friendly, celebration of the arts features talented local and regional artists & performers across multiple stages at multiple venues. There is a free admission children's stage and activity area from 1 pm-4 pm. All other performances take place from 6 pm - 10:30 pm. Fireworks take place in downtown Springfield at 8:15pm.

The Vaudeville Valley Circus and The Pasfield House present this dazzling and action-packed burlesque revue and variety show. Experience the excitement of classic, sultry, vaudeville entertainment in a beautiful historic landmark.

Tickets are $60 for general admission, $200 for VIP front row leather seating with premium bottle service for two! The show includes complimentary hors d'oeuvres as well as a champagne toast at midnight. The event also features a bar and live music by local 3-piece, The Guilty Boys, starting at 10:30 and going until 2023! Come share in the fun and dress as fancy or as casual as you like.


The Dew wanted to feature events at some of our communities' landmarks. There are many more festivities taking place through the holidays at many local businesses.
